The future

What are we preparing ourselves for?

I've lately been going around thinking about the future. What is waiting for me ahead? I'm occupied in school and I'm worrying too much about my grades. I've scored a great grade point average on my latest continuous assessment mark. These grades will be the ones to lead me to high school (or Gymnasium as we call it in Denmark). But why is it important?

Since I was five years old I've wanted to be a veterinarian and I've always known that it wouldn't be easy. I've lived my life pursuing the dream of becoming a vet in Australia or the United States, but rarely I find myself asking; what is important right now?

Search for "future" on Google.com and a bunch of signpost leading you to the future will pup op. Is there some kind of sign that leads us all to the future? Or do we have to find the road ourselves? I must say I'm confused and sometimes I feel misled, but if I'm the one who is my own leader then I have no one but myself to thank.

Do we create our own future?

And is it okay to stop and ask for help?

Likehunter...?

Like if you think this kitten is cute!

Scroll if NOT!

We all know these pictures. They appear on facebook, twitter, instagram, tumblr, smosh & all these kind of social medias. But why do we like them?

I don't know. Is it because the kitten is cute? Maybe. - But what if it was photos like these...

It's not because I don't love my grandma, I do. - But liking a picture to avoid her death? I could like it to be on the safe side. Do I dare not to? Why do these pictures appears on our startscreen on facebook or where ever they might show up. - Because the number of likes on these pictures rise steeply because people won't risk there grandma's life or be an accomplice to a little puppy's death.

Another likehunter trick... Eeehm... I don't know much about this, but I sure know that a girl with that kind of profilepicture (to the right) gets tons of likes compared to photos taken in regular perspective. And why, could you ask... Boys will be boys. It's an attempt for attention and it works.

What do I think of these pictures? I don't know. Do I like them? No. - I take the chance and visit my grandma during the week. I'm not a guy so the girl-trick doesn't work on me.

Should they stop? - I don't mind. Their photo, their choice.

I would like to hear your opinion...?

What do you think of likehunters?

Crime and horror...

So I've been watching murder mysteries in the television all afternoon, and I'm inspired. Today I'm blogging about murders.

Crimeserials

What have they got in common?

Jessica Fletcher, Miss Marple, Detective Columbo, CI Barnaby & Hercule Poirot.
They are all great "murder solvers". At least that's what we think when we see them. Of course they are all actors; Angela Lansbury, Geraldine McEwan, Peter Falk, John Nettles & David Suchet.
These crime-serials are not particular scary, but entertaining and enjoyable in their own ways. These detectives are soothing and reliable. In my point of view, of course. You know they aren't getting killed, so whenever they appear on the screen after a dramatic scene in the show, you can relax. They've gained this trust from the viewers, we know they've got everything under control.

Have you every watched a horror movie and turned down the audio?

Why do we press the "mute"-button when it gets scary in a movie?

Sound-effects can manipulate you like a red scarf on a bull. As an example let's take Midsomer Murders theme song...

Yeah... They know exactly how to scare the wits out of you. They make the music either dismal or warning. Like the jaws theme song...

Oh Jesus!... Gosh. Sharks a my favorite animal, but seriously they scare the crap out of me! Just seeing those photos... God!... But you see what I mean, about the music? It makes it more... Dynamic and real. Like it's happening right in your own living room!

Any good scary-stories?
I'm gonna end the blogging for today. But before I do that, let me tell you what I get scared of in a scary-movie or a crime-serial:
When you start the movie and the credits says; "Based on a true story"...

What scares you the most?

Cookies & smoothies...

In a baking mood? Try these!

It's cookies with chocolate peaces & hazelnuts.

This recipe should have been on my blog weeks ago, but I never had the time so here it comes:

Ca. 15 peaces:

100 gram (1 3/4 dl)  brown sugar
100 gram sugar
125 gram soft butter (1/2 pack)
1/2 vanilla pod
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
150 gram flour
1/2 tsp rough salt
ca. 60 gram hazelnuts (1dl)
175 gram dark chocolate

How to do:

  1. Turn on your owen at 175 ͦ C
  2. Mix brown sugar, sugar and soft butter into a bowl.
  3. Split the vanilla pod and scrape the corn out with the tip of a small knife. (just a hint) mix it in the bowl with the sugar and butter.
Here i used vanilla powder instead, but if you want to do it old fashion, be my guest.

     4.  Crack the egg and mix it in the bowl.
     5.  Mix baking powder, flour and salt in a new blown and then mix it with the dough.
     6.  Chop the hazelnuts. Grate the chocolate, or chop it thorough with a knife. And mix it in the dough
          gentle.
If you chop it with a bread knife (or a knife with serration) it will be a lot easier and it wont spread all over your kitchen.
     7.  Put baking paper on two baking trays. Roll small balls of the dough and put them with a good distance
on the baking paper. - The ball will flow out to a round shaped cookie in the hot owen.
     8.  Bake one tray at the time. Put the baking tray in the middle of the owen. Bake 10-12 min. to the cakes are brown in the brim. Let them cool of on the tray in 5-10 min. to they are firm.

I can assure you this is the best cookies I've ever tasted!
Try them out a cold day where it's raining or you have an excuse for staying inside.

Smoothie:
The smoothie is more an improvisation. There is many ways of making smoothies. And it's all about your taste. I like this recipe. Actually, it isn't much of a recipe more an outline.

Blend yogurt and one banana and add some frozen raspberries (you can take whatever you like. I like raspberries) Blend it and add now some milk, if the smoothie is too thick. Add some sugar and blend again.

Very easy and quick to make.

Jump in a jumpsuit...

Have you ever felt like jumping into one of these...?

And then felt like jumping into this...?
With this....?

Sometimes there is nothing else to do than just let go of whatever you might be holding in your hand and then surrender to the TV. To do nothing can be the best medicine for stress, broken hearted, bustle and whatever the case is that you're running around in a hamster wheel.
A hamster needs to use its energy somehow. But a hamster needs a break too.
But you ain't a hamster, and stress is very hard to get rid of when you've already gotten it.
Exercise helps avoiding stress too (because you releases endorphins when you a physic active), some people even say that they get it worse by sitting inside all day long.

(In Denmark this summer is nothing but average weather, not hot enough to swim and not cold enough to stay indoor the entire day. But what is there to do outside?)

If you don't know what to spend your vacation on, then stay inside watch old movies with a peace of cake
and  the next day go out and do some exercise to burn the cake of you hips.

There's a time and place for everything.

What do U do when you are bored ?

Vacation with girls...

Girl-trip to Bornholm (Denmark's sunny island)...

Names from the left:
Cecilie, me (Katrine), Ida, Sara, Nanna, Anne.

Have you ever been on an island before? I've been on one. But then again... I've been on the island five times, I think. And every single one of them was with my friend Anne, - the girl to the right - She's one of my very best friends, and even though the island is in Denmark (where I live), it feels like we are on a total different continent. Maybe it's just because we are from a bigger town, and it all seems so... ancient.
But what can you expect of a small island in a small country like this.
Even though the ancient style, I couldn't think of a better vacation. - Well... I could, but let me tell you about it tomorrow.

What is your favorite vacation?

A small picture of me, the second day on Bornholm.

To move on is to apologize...

Lately I've discovered some bad habits among people...

We forget to apologize. And if we do so, we don't always mean it. We just say it so we can get rid of the issue we have with the involved. Have we got into the habit, not to give an apology?

Of course when you mess up, and you know you've said or done the wrong thing you can give an excuse form the heart, I'm not saying that we turned into cold-hearted robots, but we do forget sometimes:

"What is just words for you, is a total other deal for somebody else"

Have you ever looked at yourself thinking: Who am I? After hurting a very close friend?

I have - (Let's not go too much into that).  And I did apologize. That's when I started thinking about the thing about an apology. It might just be words for you, but think about the person who receive your apology. I know that it meant a lot to my friend that i said i was sorry.

Remember you can get a long way with anger, but do it with love and the result will be even better.
